Commander Hugo Chávez assured that “imperialism has always been responsible for weakening national power. Of course, for them to be a superpower they had to weaken all other powers, national or regional.”
From Fort Tiuna in Caracas, on July 23, 2009, during the broadcast of Theoretical President #5, he explained that the Father of the Fatherland, Simon Bolivar, warned him when he said: “There, to the north, there is a very large nation, very hostile and capable of anything.”
He also assured that imperialism divided us into pieces, while specifying that Venezuela is not preparing to “attack anyone, we are not the aggressors, we are the ones who have been attacked historically (...) Only that we have the right to defend our dignity, and to defend the independence process that has now risen again”.
