Chávez to the revolutionaries: Let's get the best out of us and form a solid unity

“Let's get the best out of ourselves, let's be responsible to our people, to our cadres, to our followers, and let's truly form a solid revolutionary unit,” requested the Eternal Commander Hugo Chávez, from the Municipal Theater, on January 15, 2009.

Chávez recalled that the Liberator, Simón Bolívar, was the victim of terrible divisions, personal ambitions or small groups, after the war against Spain ended; “Páez here, Santander there, Flores beyond and they broke the great Republic to pieces”.

“We already see the threats that we have in front of us, the arsonists, the destabilizing threats that force us, beyond positions that are sometimes even personal, to go beyond all that and clearly recognize what the objective is, what is the strategic line or scope, what are the risks in which the Homeland, the Revolution, the Bolivarian process, the construction of Socialism are immersed,” said Chávez.

The Commander invited us to take advantage of this situation to begin rebuilding spaces or rebuilding spaces for both debate and discussion. “Spaces for healthy criticism among us, purifying criticism,” he said.

“We have to be clear about where the enemy is, we are not enemies to each other, let's not mistake the compass or the combat visor, where the historic enemy is, let's always be able to recognize it,” he said.
