On December 3, 2005, the Leader of the Bolivarian Revolution, Hugo Chávez Frías, assured the opposition that they would never take peace or Christmas away from the people of Venezuela.
“Nobody thinks that they're going to push us to the limits they took us to, no, not at all, no, they're not going to take Christmas away from us, they're not going to take away our peace again, they're not going to take away our peace, take it for granted,” said the Commander from the Miraflores Palace.
In that regard, Chávez recalled the media campaigns promoted by extremist sectors to try to destabilize and frighten the country. “Here we must remember the different formats that these aggressions have taken, first the format of the purchase (...) then came the aggressions, and the sabotage and the oil coup; since they failed, they began to look for another format and the referendum came, they used the sovereign Venezuelan Constitution to attack, putting on the mask of the Constitution, disrespecting it...”, he recalled.
