On January 8, 2012, during his program Aló Presidente No. 376, the Leader of the Bolivarian Revolution, Hugo Chávez Frías, emphasized that the representatives of the Venezuelan opposition are truly fascists, not politicians.

“It's one of the problems that Venezuela has in truth, because they are capable of lending themselves to anything, they don't see that they are fascists, they applaud anything, it doesn't matter (...) those are not politicians, politics is something else, the political game is something else,” said the Commander, referring to the fact that these sectors are capable of supporting invasions of Venezuela.

In addition, from the state of Anzoátegui, he challenged that opposition to recognize the results of that year's elections. “I challenge the premajunches to tell the country, first that they respect the Electoral Council, then the referee, that they respect the Republic Plan, that they will respect the electoral results, which the National Electoral Council is going to announce. I'm sure they're not going to say that,” he said.
