Chávez Invicto: At the Academy I Learned to Love the Fatherland

In the documentary Dreams Come Like Rain, Commander Hugo Chávez recounted how he became a soldier at the Venezuelan Military Academy.

“I learned at that beloved military academy: To love my country profoundly and infinitely and not only to love it so to speak, but I learned to love it and when I swore an oath on July 7, 1975, with my second lieutenant's sabre, in the courtyard of honor of the military academy, when I take out my sabre to swear, swear firmly and swear seriously,” said Commander Chávez on September 23, 2006.

In this regard, he stressed the need to love the country: “whoever does not love this country, and the homeland is first of all, as Ali Primera says, man, the human being”.
