Chávez Gigante: When the coup plotters were in charge in Venezuela, the people were abandoned

The Eternal Commander Hugo Chávez, from the Miraflores Palace, during the program Aló Presidente #138, on February 9, 2003, stated that when the coup plotters were in charge in Venezuela, the People were abandoned, adrift, no one paid attention to either society or the national interest or the Homeland.

“Here there are great economic interests of the coup economic sectors, many of them have lived on smuggling, corruption, contracts with the State that they never paid, on millions and billions of dollars in loans from state banks at preferential rates,” Chávez said.

He recalled that private debt was nailed to Venezuela, the “businessmen” owed the banks and the State assumed that debt. “Imagine immorality. Now we are carrying that burden and interest and everything and no one gave a penny to us, to the Republic, of that debt,” he added.

“The Democratic Action party , Fedecamaras, applauded Mr. Lusinchi: They called him the best President in history (...) and he was the one who stuck the sword in the people's chest,” he said.

In that sense, he said that the manguangua has run out in Venezuela, because “now there is a government that governs based on a Constitution.”
