Change of venue! Final phase of the 2024 Olympic Qualifying Championship will be played in Caracas

The Directorate of Competitions and Operations of the South American Football Confederation (CONMEBOL), made official the change of the venue of the final phase of the Venezuela 2024 Olympic Qualifying Championship from the Metropolitan Stadium of Lara to Caracas .

“After carrying out a new inspection of the Metropolitan Stadium of Lara, the team made up of technicians from CONMEBOL and the Venezuelan Football Federation (FVF) agreed to point out that the conditions on the grass are not yet optimal for the Final Phase to be held there,” the Confederation said in a statement.

He also highlighted the effort that has been made to ensure that the stadium is in the best condition with the infrastructure works in the Final Phase of adjustments. However, “although the evolution of the grass is favorable, it will still need a little more time to be perfectly conditioned to receive games of that magnitude”.

“Under these circumstances, the joint decision of CONMEBOL and FVF has been that the Final Phase of the tournament will be held in the city of Caracas, whose facilities, like those in Valencia, have also been completely refurbished and have already successfully hosted several games of the CONMEBOL Pre-Olympic 2024,” he said.

The final phase of the Olympic Qualifying Championship is scheduled for February 5, 8 and 11 with the four qualified teams from the group stage currently being contested in Caracas and Valencia. From there, the two qualified for South America to the Paris 2024 Olympic Games will start.
