During a press
conference, the Minister of People's Power for Foreign Affairs,
Yván Gil, assured that the United States (USA) has never lifted sanctions against Venezuela.
“The United States Government
has never taken action to lift sanctions. It promised to lift each and every one of the sanctions when the elections
were called and did not comply,” Gil emphasized.
In addition, he pointed out
that the objective of the North American country is to
damage the elections in Venezuela because the US empire has openly and privately supported an
extremist political option in our nation that “involves the violent overthrow of the
legitimate government of President Nicolás Maduro. The United States has taken a series of steps to
sabotage, to create a conflict in the elections.”
In this
regard, he stressed that the politics of the northern country torpedo any democratic effort.
“The objective is
to collapse the Venezuelan economy so that a violent
popular uprising occurs against the legitimately elected government led by the extreme right
that has always denied the electoral route to settle political differences,” he emphasized.
He asserted that the
United States has not succeeded and will not be able to do so because Venezuela has institutions such as the National Electoral
Council (CNE) with solid foundations and laws that give power to the People in participatory democracy.
“Everything will remain in the aspirations of the United States, it will not succeed in Venezuela,” he stressed.
