Chancellor Gil: The 27F marked a turning point in the history of our people

The Foreign Minister of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Yván Gil, commemorated this Tuesday the people's spirit of struggle and rebellion, on the 35th anniversary of El Caracazo, an uprising that took place on February 27, 1989 against the neoliberal measures of Carlos Andrés Pérez and the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

'El Caracazo' not only represented a tragedy, but it also ignited the flame of liberation, guiding Venezuela along the path of the Bolivarian Revolution and empowering citizens to take control of the country's destiny,” he emphasized through his account on X.

In this regard, the head of Venezuelan diplomacy stressed that “this rebellion marked a turning point in the history of our people.”
