The Foreign Minister of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Yván Gil, held a meeting this Thursday with the Deputy Minister and President of the Institute for Political and International Studies (IPIS) of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Saeed Khatibzadeh, to strengthen the ties of brotherhood between the two nations.

During the meeting, they reaffirmed the “joint struggle in multilateral forums to denounce the economic aggressions of the United States against our peoples, as well as its fascist actions against migrants,” said the Venezuelan Foreign Minister through his Telegram channel.

Gil ratified the Bolivarian Government's support “for the Islamic Republic of Iran, which is subject to threats against its integrity, which are intolerable.” In addition, both authorities reaffirmed the alliance between Caracas and Tehran as “ strategic partners and commitment to building a multicentric and multipolar world in favor of La Paz”.

Relations between Venezuela and Iran were established on August 9, 1950 and reached a new level of understanding and strategic cooperation starting in 1999, with the arrival of Commander Hugo Chávez and the Bolivarian Revolution. In addition, both nations share the vision of a new world order in the Non-Aligned Movement (MNOAL), the Forum of Gas Exporting Countries (FPEG) and the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC).
