Supreme Commander Hugo Rafael Chávez Frías founded on September 26, 2005, the Strategic Operational Command of the Bolivarian National Armed Forces (CEOFANB), based on the former Unified Command of the National Armed Forces (CUFAN), separating himself from the Ministry of Defense.
The CEOFANB became the highest body for planning, programming, direction, execution and joint strategic operational control of the Bolivarian National Armed Forces, with jurisdiction over the entire geographical area of the Nation and in continental, aquatic and spatial areas in accordance with the treaties signed and ratified by the Republic.
His command has been exercised by high-ranking figures due to their probity, professionalism and exceptional gifts for hard work, which has guaranteed the development, consolidation and expansion of the institution's goals, thus turning it into an arsenal of short-term achievements, and subject to far-reaching plans, all of which result in strength for security, in an integral sense, articulated with public policies.
