The president of Centro Caribe Sports, Luis Mejía Oviedo, expressed his satisfaction after concluding an official visit to the city of Caracas, where he held high-level institutional meetings at the Miraflores Palace, with President Delcy Rodríguez, with a view to evaluating the Venezuelan capital as the venue for the 2030 Central American and Caribbean Games.
During its work schedule, the international delegation held three formal meetings and one institutional meeting of great significance.
“The first meeting was held at the headquarters of the Venezuelan Olympic Committee (VOC) where we were received and given the required documentation. Then at the Ministry of Sports, a presentation was held, which not only pleased the entourage, but also cleared up any doubts about the purpose of this request and later with the President of the Republic Delcy Rodríguez,” he explained.
He also highlighted that he held a meeting with the Minister of People's Power for Foreign Affairs and International Trade, Félix Plasencia, and with the Mayor of Caracas. Carmen Meléndez, essential for complying with regulatory requirements.
“The city, through its mayor, must give its approval, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is essential in a competition between 37 countries. Government guarantees are the key and the essence of this postulation,” he emphasized.
In taking stock of the facilities and infrastructure inspected, the top spokesperson of Centro Caribe Sports confirmed the organizational capacity of the capital city to take on a challenge of international magnitude.
“During our visit, we saw a Caracas sufficiently prepared for a responsibility of this nature. It is our duty to enter into the validation process and present it to our Executive and to our Assembly,” he said.
Finally, Mejía Oviedo highlighted the historical relevance of the assignment of the new organizing headquarters, marking the beginning of the second centenary of the Caribbean sports organization.
