The book “El Patio Guaiquerí”, by the Neo-Spartan researcher Yamilex Milán,
will be presented this Friday, October 2 at the Orlando
Araujo Bookstore, located on the corner of Gradillas, Caracas, starting at 10:00 in the morning.
The activity, organized by the Luis Antonio Bigott International Center for
Decolonization Studies, will include the naming of this publication,
which becomes the twentieth work produced by the institution since its
creation five years ago, according to a note from the Ministry for Culture.
The presentation will be given by Susana Díaz Aponte, representative of the Training
area, and Diego González, of the Publication area.
The research was carried out in the South Atom community of
Margarita Island and addresses the processes of collective construction and reconstruction that
emerged from the relationship and coexistence in the Guaiqueri ancestral courtyard.
“The work 'El Patio Guaiquerí' expands the concept of the patio as a physical, geographical place, natural open field, a meeting place where daily interaction and coexistence are given life, in a close relationship between past and present,” explained Milan.
The author is a sociocultural promoter and researcher of the cultural
manifestations and expressions of Nueva Esparta and the Venezuelan East.
His work has been developed through
collective construction methodologies and Churuata Sociocultural Promotion, from a
decolonizing perspective and insurgent historicity.
