This Thursday, the pro tempore president of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC), Xiomara Castro, reported that the Extraordinary Virtual Summit of Heads and Heads of the regional block that will deal with the assault on the Embassy of Mexico by the Government of Ecuador has been rescheduled for April 16.

“This call is due to Ecuador's violation of the 1961 Vienna Convention and the 1954 Asylum Convention,” Castro said through his X account.

It should be noted that last Friday, Ecuadorian police forces raided the Embassy of the Aztec country to take into custody the former Ecuadorian vice-president, Jorge Glas, who that day had received political asylum from Mexico.

The situation provoked a protest from the Mexican Government, which broke diplomatic relations with Ecuador and withdrew all its diplomatic personnel in that country, according to a Xinhua press release.
