CEI supports the creation of a new security architecture in Eurasia

The heads of state of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) issued a joint statement this Friday to support the creation of a new Eurasian security architecture as part of the celebration of the organization's 35th anniversary.

“The CIS will continue to support the creation of a new Eurasian security architecture based on the Charter of the United Nations, international law, as well as the principle of equal and indivisible security for all States of the Eurasian space,” the leaders of the regional bloc ratified.

The document regarding the regulatory framework of the proposal stated that “the bloc established that this initiative will be based strictly on international law and the Charter of the United Nations (UN)”.

“The leaders emphasized that expanding and strengthening cooperation between different organizations will become indispensable tools to guarantee stability and strengthen international peace,” the official statement concluded.
