Five missing people, two dead and more than 25,000 people affected are the balance, which so far have been left by the rains that have fallen in the last few hours in the state of Sucre and caused the overflow of the Manzanares River, said the Minister of Interior, Justice and Peace, A/J Remigio Ceballos Ichaso.

During a telephone contact with Venezolana de Televisión (VTV), she reported that, as a result of this fact, more than 600 homes were affected and many others are being evaluated for the damage they have suffered due to rising waters.

He also explained that to address these effects, “a logistics train” was activated with the shipment of more than 2,000 tons of supplies to guarantee care for the population.

“Also, more than 3,600 officials will be dedicated to mitigating this impact caused by the heavy rains that have fallen in the mountainous area that houses the municipality of Montes and Cumanacoa, in the state of Sucre,” he said.

In the same way, he stressed that the Civil Protection authorities will work hand in hand with the Bolivarian National Armed Forces (FANB) for the deployment of equipment, materials, and the rescue of people.

“The passage of Hurricane Beryl has caused atmospheric instability and that will generate rain. Right now the situation is under control and we are in the damage assessment phase to analyze the needs we have and move on to mitigation and immediate care for the population,” said Ceballos Ichaso.
