Carola Chávez: Nicolás Maduro will continue to successfully lead the People through the storm (+written)

The leader and deputy of the National Assembly (AN), Carola Chávez, assured that Commander Hugo Chávez was not mistaken when he told the Venezuelan people that “Nicolás was the one who was going to lead us safely through the storm, which Chávez knew would come”.

“This is how Nicolás began conducting this complex, painful phase. He picked us up orphans, orphans too, and honoring the word given to our Father, he put his chest and his life into fulfilling the task that Chávez left him,” he said.

This was expressed at the Caracas Polyhedron, where he led the holding of the V Congress of the PSUV and the IV Youth Congress (JPSUV), for the acceptance of the PSUV's candidacy for the 2024 Presidential Election.

At first, Nicolás became my candidate, because as full as the full Moon, I knew that Chávez knew. And Chávez told us, in that torn moment, when we felt that the ground was opening under our feet, that Nicolás was the one who was going to lead us safely through the storm that Chávez knew was coming.

And the storm didn't wait half a second. He didn't give us a moment to mourn the father who left us. She arrived inclement, heartless, and hit us viciously, assuming that we were already a shiver away from bursting and falling.

This is how Nicolás began conducting this complex, painful stage. He picked us up orphans, orphans too, and honoring the word given to our Father, he put his chest and his life into fulfilling the task that Chávez left him.

The enemy's bet was—and is—dog warfare. Venezuelans should kill each other to serve the country on a platter to the interests of transnational corporations. So many times they brought us to the brink of that abyss. So many times Nicolás, with a cool head, nerves of steel, stopped the violence and left the falcons with desire... and anger. Nicolas, I discovered, is the father of ice cream and strategic patience.

They didn't count on his cunning.

Maburro, they told him and only they believed it. Pride did not allow them to see the sparkle in Nicolás's eyes. A glimmer of intelligence, yes, but more important than that, the glow of a good, sensitive, humble soul that would not allow itself to be intoxicated by power, which has its poisons for the weak of soul and character. Neither in soul nor in character, Nicolas knows no weakness.

There in the presidency, on the very difficult level of high politics, he is the same as always: Nicolás, the good, patient man who believes in collective leadership, who knows how to listen, who wants to listen... Nicolás, the one of his life, the same boy who walked the streets and neighborhoods of Caracas inventing ways to make things better for everyone.

The target of every dirty war, he is actually defeating it. Early on, the traitors accused him of being a traitor, but Nicolás did not give up, not even when, under all the pressure and threats, Bolton, Pompeo and Pence were publicly telling him to surrender the country in exchange for a multi-million dollar retirement in a tropical paradise. Offer for cowardly and traitor leaders: millions of dollars and casota in Miami in exchange for not fucking with the master. How wrong they are always with Nicolas! Go wash your avocado!

Faced with our stubborn decision to be free and sovereign, wars of all kinds and of all generations were mounted on us. Venezuela became an experimental field of perverse methods of warfare. What they haven't done to us! Economic war, psychological warfare, mischievous warfare, sabotage of infrastructure, invasions with mercenaries, magnicidal drones, blockade, looting of our assets abroad...

And to each attack, a strategic response, always in defense of the Homeland, of our people struck by so much cruelty and so much evil. Every obstacle, a novel idea, a reason to overcome and we are overcoming. Nicolás and the Chavista people who have been able to accompany him because we know that Nico has been able to drive us.

After seeing ourselves so many times so close to the point of no return of the violence unleashed, and seeing ourselves today enjoying the peace that we built so hard, all the anguish we experienced just a few years ago seems so far away to us. And it's a relief to feel the anguish far away, but it's a danger to forget who has done everything possible to achieve the peace and stability that allows us today to open windows and see the possible, bright future in front of us.

It is a danger to forget because on the other side there is only revenge, conflict, surrender, regression, war. Everything they've tried, everything we've avoided and overcome.

Nicolás is the only candidate who fills us with certainties of peace, dignity, inclusion, breadth, stability, future... and a lot of hope, of everything we can still invent. For what we have experienced, for what we have achieved, for what we must continue to achieve... because I love him very much and because I respect and admire him more, my candidate is Nicolás”.
