On February 11, 1870, the illustrious hero Carlos Valentín José de la Soledad Antonio del Sacramento de Soublette and Jerez de Aristeguieta died in Caracas at 80 years of age.

Venezuelan soldier, politician and distinguished man. From an early age, he joined the independence troops alongside Francisco de Miranda, and later joined Simón Bolívar in the Los Cayos expedition, in eastern Venezuela.

Thanks to his outstanding participation, he earned the position of Director of the War in the Central Provinces , where he carries out a campaign consisting of the realists. He also served as vice-president of the Republic and in 1829, he participated in the act of separation of Venezuela from Gran Colombia.

Soublette, was elected Constitutional President for the period of 1843-1847.
