Carlos Raúl Villanueva: Father of Modern Architecture in Venezuela (+Christmas)

On May 30, 1900, Carlos Raúl Villanueva was born in London, a Venezuelan architect whose work is omnipresent in various parts of the country and who, without knowing him, admire his work, which manages to transport them to the historical years of that Venezuela.

Considered a master of modern architecture of the 20th century, he studied at the National School of Fine Arts in Paris, where he graduated in 1928 and that same year he visited Venezuela for the first time.

In Maracay, the Hotel Jardín currently the seat of the government of the state of Aragua, inaugurated in 1930, the Plaza de Toros, inaugurated in 1933; in Maracaibo, the Rafael Urdaneta Urdaneta Urbanization 1943; in Caracas: the Plaza Carabobo 1934, the Museum of Fine Arts 1939, the Gran Colombia School (now Francisco Pimentel) considered to be the first modern school built in the country inaugurated in 1942, the redevelopment of El Silencio, a work carried out between 1942 and 1945, Urbanization December 2, today January 23.

On August 16, 1975, he was a victim of Parkinson's Disease and the architect died in Caracas. His remains were transferred to the Aula Magna of the University City of Caracas to say a final farewell to him.
