On November 8, 1976, the leader of the Nicaraguan revolution Carlos Fonseca Amador died in combat in the jungle of Zinica.

Fonseca Amador is known for his defense of the disadvantaged and for being one of the founders of the Sandinista National Liberation Front (FSLN).

In 1956, he was imprisoned after the execution of dictator Anastasio Somoza (who was involved in the assassination of another revolutionary, Augusto César Sandino, decades ago). Four months later, he left prison.

Fonseca's Marxist ideas were the cause of the persecution of the Somoza regime, however, he founded, together with Commander Tomás Borge Martínez, Santos López and Silvio Mayorga, the most important party in the Central American country.

The Revolutionary War fell in combat, after being the victim of an ambush, along with other fighters such as Benito Carvajal and Crescencio Aguilar.
