Caracas firefighters treated 300 people affected by chlorine gas leak in San Martín

A total of 22 people were treated by the Caracas Fire Department after the inhalation of chlorine gas, after a cylinder containing this substance that was in storage leaked on San Martín Avenue.

In this regard, Pablo Antonio Palacios, general commander of the Caracas Fire Department, pointed out that 22 people were affected by the inhalation of chlorine gas, since a cylinder that was in storage had an escape.

He also indicated that upon receiving the notification, the firefighters came to the scene and proceeded to the mass eviction of approximately 300 people living in the affected area and its surroundings.

In this sense, it was known that the “cylinder of approximately 68 kilograms that had a defect in the valve body, which caused the product to leak and directly affect 22 people due to the inhalation of the gases emanating in the area, including two minors and three firefighters”.
