Venezuela's Caracas FC defeated Chile's Deportes Iquique 2-1 at the start of the group stage of the CONMEBOL South American Cup.

At the Tierra de Campeones stadium in the Chilean city of Iquique, the Caracas team won the victory thanks to goals scored by Ender Echenique in the 34th minute and Daniel Aguilar in the 38th minute.

The Avila team recovered the game after just in the 4th minute the Chilean team went up with a penalty goal from Edson Puch, after a defensive error by the Reds that ended in a foul by Francisco Lamantía.

This is the first international victory for both the coach of Caracas FC, Fernando Aristeguieta, and for the club this time as a visitor.

This victory leaves Caracas FC as the leader of group H with 3 points, followed by Atlético Mineiro and Cienciano both with one unit and closed Deportes Iquique without so many.

In the next match, Caracas FC will host the Peruvian Cienciano team at the UCV Olympic Stadium on April 8.
