On May 21, 2007, Commander Hugo Chávez nationalized the Venezuelan National Anonymous Telephone Company (CANTV), with the objective of democratizing telecommunications in the country.

“We are going to make up for lost time; we are going to make up for lost ground; we are going to put on this new CANTV, we are going to put this socialist company, with all its engines running at the service of the integral development of the nation and the construction of socialist Venezuela,” said Commander Chávez during the nationalization.

After the nationalization of CANTV, it has become the first telecommunications company in Venezuela, providing an accessible service to the people.

Despite the imperial blockade, the workers of this important company strive daily to contribute to the technological development of the Homeland.
