Last Monday, the Deputy Prime Minister of Canada, Chrystia Freeland, announced her resignation from the government amid a disagreement with Justin Trudeau over how to deal with the threat of the president-elect of the United States (US) Donald Trump, to impose tariffs of 25% on the country's products.
“On Friday, he told me that he no longer wants me to be his finance minister and offered me another position in the Cabinet. After reflection, I came to the conclusion that the only honest and viable path is for me to resign from the Cabinet,” Freeland wrote in her letter of resignation to Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.
According to the former minister, Trudeau “made it clear” that she “no longer credibly enjoys trust nor does she have the authority that comes with it,” Russia Today (RT) detailed on its website.
