The Secretary General of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV), Diosdado Cabello Rondón, reiterated the need for police officers to be seen as friends of the people.

During the broadcast of the radio program Sin Truco ni Maña, Cabello said that when the people see a police officer they should see a friend, without that implying weakness when it comes to the line of duty.

“It doesn't mean that, but you have to feel calm. I gave the instruction, which is being carried out, that a policeman, a patrol where you can get a school has to stand up, get off and talk to the principals and the students,” he added.

Finally, he argued that the police must be “close to the people, who are able to go to a neighborhood, not to repress, but to bring a brother who came abused from the United States and gets out of his Bolivarian National Police patrol and the official comes down to hand over each of them to his house, lovingly.”
