The first vice-president of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV), Diosdado Cabello Rondón, expressed his support for the Colombian president, Gustavo Petro, who is facing an attempted coup d'etat.
“We support Gustavo Petro, but the naivety of thinking that he was governing, of thinking that he could govern Colombia, that narco-paramilitarism would let him govern Colombia, that they were going to hand over that country to a President like him; they haven't let him govern even a day,” Cabello emphasized during the Con El Mazo Dando program number 498.
He stressed that Venezuela will never use it to harm Colombia. “Between Petro and Duque I have nothing to choose, it's clear that I'm going to support Petro,” he said while stressing that the country will not be used to attack Brazil either.
He regretted that the governments of Colombia and Brazil do not understand that what happened during and after the elections was an attempted coup against Venezuela.
“Hopefully these things will help them understand that there is a coup d'etat against Venezuela, I wish they understood that what they tried to do on July 28 was a coup d'etat; they understood it in Colombia and in Brazil,” he said.
