The sectoral vice-president of Politics, Public Security and Peace, Diosdado Cabello, said that this new destabilization action was aimed at frustrating the swearing in of President Nicolás Maduro on January 10.
“In the conversations taken from the raids, we have the maps of what they were trying to do, they wanted at all costs to prevent the newly elected powers from being legitimized before the National Assembly,” Cabello said during a press conference.
He stressed that this operation was frustrated due to the weapons that were seized in the state of Zulia.
He indicated that the members of the Aragua Train tried to meet in Colombia and one of its members was arrested in the neighboring country.
“The meeting was to plan the attacks in accordance with the extreme right-wing opposition groups led by Mrs. María Corina Machado,” he said.
He stressed that they are using paramilitary and criminal groups from Venezuela to destabilize.
He stressed that investigations are continuing because companies that could be involved in this terrorist plan are being raided.
