The decision of the President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, to bring forward the start of Christmas to the first of October, generated opposition from the church hierarchy, which was silent when the coup plotters suspended the celebrations at the end of the year in 2002.

In this regard, Diosdado Cabello during the Con El Mazo Dando program responded to the church's statement in which they reject the Christmas advance.

“They are angry because Christmas was brought forward; Copeyanos and adecos with cassock, they could eliminate it when Carlos Ortega said: there will be no Christmas here, and they applauded,” he recalled.

He reiterated that the festivities will last until January 15, including the one on January 10 when the inauguration of Nicolás Maduro takes place.
