During his participation in the podcast Chavista, the first vice-president of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV), Diosdado Cabello, emphasized that the February 4, 1992 rebellion had an anti-imperialist character and spirit.
“On February 4, in this popular rebellion; popular, because in truth, without the People participating, we were actively young
boys of the People, young people, that rebellion had an eminently anti-imperialist character
,” he said
He stressed that, although at the time those military
youth were not aware of this, “the rebellion was anti-imperialist”.
He also recalled the letter he wrote
to his father while in prison; and he reaffirmed that this path of Revolution he and his
companions from the outset, “we assumed it as a mission of life (...) But
there were comrades who, not that they didn't know that they were going to a rebellion (...) they
all knew, but the root of the rebellion was an absolutely anti-imperialist pronouncement”.
He also emphasized the importance
of what Venezuela was like before Q4. “Here in Venezuela, the
presidents did not govern, here the International Monetary Fund governed, US imperialism governed.
Well, Venezuela was divided into a thousand pieces, and that's what Commander (Hugo) Chávez came
against,” he said.
In addition, he highlighted that the People rose up in the year 89, it was the bell for the Commander. “He said: 'No, we can't allow anything else here. A massacre against the people, that's not the Armed Force. ' Well, that's the starting line for Operation Ezequiel Zamora,” he said.
