This Friday, April
4th, the sectoral vice-president for Politics, Citizen Security and
Peace, Diosdado Cabello Rondón, reiterated the full link between sectors of the Venezuelan
extreme right with criminal drug trafficking and corruption groups that operated in the state of Zulia.
“We must remember it
over and over again, all this is linked to the extremist sectors of the
Venezuelan opposition, when The New York Time comes out to say this, they will
believe it; I hope it will be recorded that we have been saying it for a long
time (...) what we have said here has been strictly verified,” Cabello
said during a press conference on the Catatumbo Operation Lightning Balance .
In this regard, he pointed out
that the extreme right-wingers María Corina Machado, Iván Simonovis, Tomás Guanipa,
Juan Pablo Guanipa and Edmundo González, among others who are fully identified, are the ones who have full ties with this great mafia in the state of Zulia.
He recalled that these criminal
groups began to be discovered, “after
conspiratorial meetings in Colombia between Mrs. María Machado and Mr.
José Enrique Rincón, a businessman, in quotation marks, in the state of Zulia in the
shrimp sector (...) and he used these companies for other purposes (...) When we reviewed the meeting between
this man and Mrs. María Machado, the location of mercenary camps emerges” in the Catatumbo sector, of
Maracaibo and on the Colombian side, such as Operation Gideon.
He specified that for these events, among others, the mayor of Maracaibo, Rafael Ramírez, and the mayor of the municipality of Colón, Kervin Sarcos, who was in charge of the camps and the introduction of weapons of war into Venezuelan territory, all linked to Mr. Rincón, have been captured. The latter used his companies to launder drug trafficking money and to finance conspiracy plans against the country.
