The first vice-president of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV), Diosdado Cabello Rondón, paid tribute to Venezuelan boxer Francisco “Morochito” Rodríguez, who died this Tuesday, April 23, at 78 years of age in Caracas.
Referring to Rodríguez, who won the first Olympic gold medal for Venezuela in Mexico in 1968, he said that “it was an Olympic, sporting glory.”
“An upright man, a good Venezuelan,” he emphasized.
Cabello said that Morochito was being treated for his health problems, “but hey, a relapse,” cut short his recovery.
In that sense, in his Con El Mazo Dando program, broadcast number 473, he highlighted that people like “Morochito” Rodríguez don't leave, “he stays because he's part of Venezuela's sports history.”
