The sectoral vice-president for Politics, Public Security and Peace, Diosdado Cabello Rondón, stressed that the seizure of more than 5,000 kilograms of cocaine in the state of Zulia represents a serious blow to the finances of former Colombian presidents Álvaro Uribe and Iván Duque, involved in drug trafficking and paramilitarism.
“The blow that has been dealt to drug trafficking, regardless of the large amount of the seizure, will surely affect the finances of Uribe and Duque. Don't be surprised that Uribe and Duque go out of their minds right now in an instant because this affects their finances, they are 5 tons of high-purity cocaine, from drug traffickers who come from Colombia,” Cabello said during a press conference.
The Minister of Popular Power for Internal Relations, Justice and Peace also announced the arrest of mayors Alberto Sobalvarro and Jorge Nava, of the Padilla and Miranda municipalities of the state of Zulia, respectively, during the operation against drug trafficking in the western entity.
“Melvis Manuel Aular Ramírez, Jorge Luis Orozco Sánchez, Leonardo José Pumero Malavé, Germán Jesús Pirela, Jesús José Ferrer Nava, John Jair Cardona Reyes, Dudar André Agudelo Vélez have been arrested,” added Cabello, who indicated that two of those captured are cousins of Mayor Nava.
He said that this is “an investigation that we have been carrying out step by step with telephone equipment, checking the links, the relationships”.
