The first vice-president of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV), Diosdado Cabello, emphasized that the Venezuelan people would have acted, if the then President of the Republic, Rafael Caldera, had not granted pardons to the soldiers of the February 4, 1992 Rebellion.

“They (the right) blame Caldera, who let us go. If Caldera didn't let go of us, it's almost certain that the people would have gotten in there, because of the way things were coming,” he argued.

He said that “Caldera let go of us because he wasn't caught in a snare (he wasn't innocent), he knew about politics, he survived I don't know how many things about politics and he returned to being President clinging to something they called El Chiripero (political coalition)”.

In this regard, in his program With the Mazo Dando, broadcast number 464, he stressed that no significant structural changes took place, “they didn't go to the bottom, the Constitution remained the same, they continued to do what they wanted”.

Caldera fell asleep in the act and nobody said anything in this country or is that a lie?” , he added.

In that sense, he asserted that at that time he governed the country, “the same as his whole life: businessmen, financial groups and Caldera's son who was in the Palace. Nothing changed in Venezuela.”
