This Thursday, September 26, the first
vice-president of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV),
Diosdado Cabello, highlighted to Venezuelan youth that during the Fourth Republic fascism was disguised as democracy.
“Fascism is nothing new, what happens
is that we didn't write the historiography and that fascism here in
Venezuela was given other names, they called it differently so that the
world would believe it was democracy,” Cabello said during the 3rd National Meeting
of the Venezuelan Parliamentary Youth Network 2024.
In this regard, he recalled that during the
Fourth Republic, more than 11,000 young people were murdered here, “of whom
3,000 still have their bodies not found, including the brother of Fernando Soto Rojas (...) full state
terrorism.”
He pointed out that State bodies of that time were capable of taking family members and even the bodies of the dead in the middle of the wake, “but they called that democracy (...), the governments of the Fourth Republic were fascist. One of the greatest fascists who have governed this country was called the 'father of democracy' (Romulo Betancourt),” he stressed.
