The Sectorial Vice President for Politics, Citizen Security and Peace, Diosdado Cabello, said that the Bolivarian Government is constantly monitoring the country's borders to combat drug trafficking.

“Because it's a government in action fighting drugs, paramilitaries, crime and organized crime,” Cabello said during a press conference.

He stressed that in the state of Zulia there is no regional authority capable of combating drug trafficking and that is why the National Government has taken on this task in defense of the People.

“Where there is no law, we are going to put law. We are responding and at this time other arrests are being made in the state of Zulia,” he said.

He recalled that Colombia is the main drug producer in the region and that Venezuela is making an effort to stop drug trafficking cells from the neighboring country that intend to enter the national territory.

“The commander of the Army of the Colombian Ministry of Defense said that there are more than 50,000 hectares of coca leaves planted in that territory. Who planted them? And no one does anything, the American military bases that were supposedly installed to combat drug trafficking do nothing and they plant 50,000 coca leaves under their noses,” he said.

He asserted that Venezuela is one of the few countries that combat drug trafficking in the region.
