Cabello: 9 citizens have been arrested and 5.4 tons of cocaine seized (+Operation Lightning)

This Friday, March 14, the sectoral vice-president for Politics, Citizen Security and Peace, Diosdado Cabello Rondón, emphasized that thanks to the action of State security agencies, positive progress has been made in Operation Lightning, in the state of Zulia, against criminal groups operating near the Colombian-Venezuelan border.

In this regard, during a press conference from the Ministry of People's Power for Internal Relations, Justice and Peace, he explained that in this high-impact operation, nine citizens have been arrested and 5,407 kilos of cocaine have been seized, that is, 5.4 tons of high-purity cocaine.

In this regard, he pointed out that this is one of the largest caches seized. At the same time, he specified that “this is not a casual process, but an intelligence process” to dismantle these criminal gangs.

He also specified that three logistics supply centers, four shipyards were also dismantled, and 27,000 liters of fuel, 7,000 liters of resin, 73 rolls of fiberglass, 140 galvanized sheets for the construction of boats, three submersibles, confiscated weapons, 25 boat-type boats, 25 outboard engines, 17 cell phones, 6 high-tech GPS equipment and two carbon monoxide detectors were seized.

He noted that three passports of Colombian nationality, a passport of Ecuadorian nationality, a satellite communicator and more than two thousand plastic containers were also found.

He pointed out that these criminal gangs are linked to sectors of the Venezuelan right and their conspiracy activities against Venezuela. At the same time, he specified that the investigations will continue to be active until these groups are completely eliminated.
