The president of the Federative Republic of Brazil, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, 79, was discharged after six days of hospitalization, due to emergency surgery to drain a brain hematoma.

Despite the seriousness of the procedure, the president said during an interview that he was “totally fine” and plans to resume his work schedule next Thursday.

“I'm going to take care of myself, I'm going to take care of myself. I have a lot of responsibility, I have a lot of discipline, I'm going to take care of myself. I have Janja (his wife, Rosangela da Silva),” said the Brazilian president.

The Brazilian president reported that he will have to wait for the wounds caused by the procedures on his skull to heal, but that his doctors said that “there will be no setbacks” in the recovery process.

The cerebral hematoma was the result of a domestic accident that occurred in October, which initially showed no serious symptoms. However, on Monday of last week, Lula began experiencing headaches and unusual body movements while meeting in Congress.

After the corresponding exams, the president of Brazil, Lula da Silva, was rushed to Sao Paulo for surgery. Janja, who also participated in part of the interview, recounted how she experienced those moments.
