The president of the Venezuelan Corporation of Guiana (CVG), Héctor Silva, met with the governor of Delta Amacuro, Lizeta Hernández, to strengthen cooperation between public authorities and improve the protection of the population and the working class.

During a working table, Silva and Hernández discussed actions to solve problems in Tucupita, especially focused on maintaining the flood protection system. The meeting concluded with a mutual commitment to develop projects that directly benefit the community and improve their quality of life.

Subsequently, both authorities of the Bolivarian Government carried out a technical inspection of the “El Cierre” dam, the main contingency mechanism.

“We are here following the instructions of the president (Nicolás Maduro) to address everything related to the contingency system that protects Tucupita from floods,” Silva said. The work will include the rehabilitation of the dam, the maintenance of engines and guayas, and the repair of the gates of the three channels.

For her part, Governor Hernández highlighted the joint collaboration between the National and Regional Government, the CVG, Barrio Nuevo Tricolor and law enforcement agencies. “In less than 24 hours since the president gave the order, we are working together to address Delta Amacuro's flood protection system,” he said.
