The governor of the state of Anzoátegui, Luis Marcano, handed over the completely rehabilitated and restored Julián Temístocles Maza Public Library in Barcelona, an emblematic space, steeped in history, culture and education, which was declared an asset of cultural interest in the region.

During a colorful cultural event, accompanied by the state's first female fighter, Marcia Moreno; the Secretary General of Government, Katiuska Homsi; the mayor of the Bolivar municipality, Sugey Herrera and other authorities, the regional president toured the renovated facilities.

In addition, he instructed the State Directorate of Education to initiate administrative proceedings before the Institute of Cultural Heritage, with the objective of declaring the building as Cultural Heritage of the Republic.

In this regard, Marcano highlighted that the study room, which suffered damage to its infrastructure more than 30 years ago due to a fire, has been evaluated to begin its restoration.

“This is a historic space that we have recovered as part of the constitution of the Gran Plaza Libertadores and as part of the Great Mission Viva Venezuela, My Beloved Homeland, promoted by President Nicolás Maduro,” he said.

In addition, he also highlighted that recovery work has been carried out in other infrastructures, such as the Clarines Public Library and the Aragua Public Library in Barcelona. These libraries will also be adapted to the new times through the use of digital and technological tools that contribute to educational advancement.
