The 11 linear kilometers of the Manuel Belloso highway that leads from the cities of Maracaibo and San Francisco to La Chinita International Airport were finally rehabilitated after the application of 26,000 tons of asphalt in its bearing layer.
The works included the section that goes from the airport to the Caujarito distributor and that connects to Sabaneta Avenue until reaching the Circunvalación Uno in the capital of Zulia, the Última Noticias portal reported.
In addition to the asphalting, sidewalks, drainage systems, afforestation, signage, demarcation and all the lighting, including the so-called “cat's eyes”, were recovered, according to a government report.
The highway benefits airport users, taxi drivers, and drivers of public transport that covers the area. In addition, it connects with the municipalities of San Francisco and Jesús Enrique Lossada and Troncal number 6.
The governor of the entity, Luis Caldera, reported that the State Asphalt Plan is “close to 500,000 tons, with the regional plan alone. When we add up the mayors, for example, San Francisco has placed more than 106,000 tons. We are sure that for that figure there is also Maracaibo”.
He commented that he plans to deliver rehabilitated, before December 31, the road section that goes from Paraguachón to Paraguaipoa in the municipality of La Guajira; the Falcón-Zulia, on the 27 km stretch that goes from La Cataneja to the La Chinita toll booth; and the 12 km from Río Culebra-Playa Grande-Agua Caliente on the stretch of the Pan-American highway that corresponds to Zulia.
