The Ministry for Ecosocialism promotes the recovery of hydrographic basins through the strategy of planting and raising water, which combines ecological practices, ancient knowledge and community participation to protect the country's water sources.

Abigail Castillo, general director in charge of Ecosystem Management and Conservation Policies, and Lermis Lara, director of Watershed Conservation, explained that the initiative includes reforestation, soil preparation and spring care, according to national media.

Officials noted that environmental degradation and prolonged droughts associated with climate change affected the capacity of basins to capture and infiltrate water, highlighting practices such as crop rotation and the reduction of tillage.

The strategy contemplates coordination between national institutions, state authorities and organized communities, and includes projects with support from the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO).

Among the experiences mentioned were initiatives in the Turimiquire Massif, Miranda and Mérida, where communities protected springs and wetlands to avoid overgrazing and preserve water intended for consumption and agriculture.

The specialists highlighted everyday actions such as planting trees, avoiding throwing garbage in streams and participating in community environmental protection days, practices that contribute to the care of water sources and ecosystems.
