Inspectors of Popular Economy of the Urban Control Street of the Mayor's Office of Caracas were deployed in 11 parishes where they carried out the socio-economic characterization of popular workers located in public spaces as well as due compliance with the day of stoppage.

In this joint operation with representatives of the People's Power and State security agencies, 279 uprisings were carried out against those who did not have permission, sold prohibited products or did not respect the established shutdown day for the sector.

In a report from the Caracas Mayor's Office, it is specified that this municipal agency has issued 649 permits while 129 are waiting to be withdrawn and 607 are in process or waiting in order of departure.

Walter Rivera, Inspector of Urban Control of the capital's agency, reiterated that by orders of Mayor Carmen Meléndez, these deployments are carried out to verify compliance with legal regulations relating to the sale of products in public spaces.

“Among our functions is to oversee the sale of agricultural products, since the law establishes that fairs must work from Thursday to Sunday, while the rest of the representatives of popular street merchants are prohibited from working in public spaces on Mondays in the Libertador municipality,” said Rivera.

He added that authorities from the Directorate of Urban Control, the Popular Street Economy Sector Movement, the Caracas police and leaders of social organizations participated in these operations.
