The Bolivian Government, through the Ministries for Science and Technology (MINCYT) and Health, will initiate a pilot plan for a single digital medical record system to quickly and effectively treat cancer patients in the country.

In this first phase, the six main cancer centers located in the Capital District, Miranda, Aragua and Carabobo will be addressed, however; it will later be extended to the entire territory.

In this regard, the Sectorial Vice President of Science, Technology and Health, Gabriela Jiménez Ramírez, indicated, through a press release, that this pilot plan will be implemented for three months in these six centers.

“The pilot study lasts between three and four months for you to validate how the platform is working,” stressed the Minister for Science and Technology.

This digital platform, Minister Jiménez Ramírez explained, was made by engineers from the MINCYT Digital Transformation Unit, who built this system with free software.

“To have the possibility of building today's medical, digital and oncological history, is to allow us to think about a better future for public health in the country. For the country's right to public and collective health,” he said.

Minister Gabriela Jiménez Ramírez indicated that the six hospitals that will be part of the pilot plan will also receive the latest technology equipment and funding so that everyone has optical fiber.
