Bolivarian Government inaugurated 11 new MERCAL and PDVAL across the country

President Delcy Rodriguez announced that 11 Mercado de Alimentos S.A. (Mercal) and the Venezuelan Food Producer and Distributor (PDVAL) are opening this Saturday to reach the 250 milestone in all of Venezuela.

From the Baruta municipality of Miranda state, during the launch of the Venezuela Alimenta Plan, he highlighted that 90% of the food offered in the country today is of domestic production thanks to the joint work between public and private companies, which has allowed the recovery of 78% of our country's agro-industrial industrial platform.

He reiterated that the local economy and entrepreneurship guarantee food supply. “Communal production supplies the warehouses of the community with the objective of reducing the access of food products to the Venezuelan people,” he said.

“PDVAL and Mercal have a 40% reduction in costs, through this public network we are distributing 15,000 tons of food per week in addition to those distributed privately, which are about 11,000 tons per week, that is, 26,000 tons of food, which are moved around the country because there is consumption,” he said.
