Within the framework of the Venezuela Renace Plan, the mayor of Caracas, Carmen Meléndez, formally handed over 96 fully rehabilitated houses in the Pilita 1 and Pilita 2 towers, in the parish of Santa Teresa.
The infrastructures had suffered structural damage after the double earthquake of last June 24, which were recovered through a joint effort between the National Government, the local Government, and the People's Power Brigades, made up of young people and community leaders in the sector.
“Our organized People's Power performed miracles. First they came together, organized and took on the challenge of rebuilding. We arrived with the Venezuela Renace Plan to provide technical support, materials and support with engineers from the Mayor's Office of Caracas,” said Meléndez during a presidential term with the Head of State, Delcy Rodríguez.
He also highlighted that socio-productive businesses, photocopiers, hardware, carpentry and textile companies recovered. “On behalf of the textile company, they sent her a gift from the President, a very nice jacket that I'm going to give her from the women producers,” she said.
“The Mayor's Office of Caracas is giving 190 families homes, on January 23, buildings in Pinto Salinas, also a building in Ciudad Caribea and two buildings here in the parish of Santa Teresa,” he said.
urban planning spokespersons expressed their gratitude for the care provided that they have not rested since the first day of the contingency, highlighting the transformation of a tragic event into a space of coexistence and well-being.
For his part, Norkis Campo, responsible for the Self-Government Room of the Santa Teresa Bicentennial Commune, ratified the commitment of the organized community to continue working with the authorities in preparing the National Popular Consultation of October 18 and in the rehabilitation of the remaining buildings in the sector.
