The Sectorial Vice President for Social and Territorial Socialism, Héctor Rodríguez, led the flag of the Venezuelan delegation that will attend the Dakar 2026 Youth Olympic Games, during the inauguration of the IV Municipal Games 2026.

The flag bearers of the national entourage are Santiago Camejo, in Beach Volleyball, and Rosalba Aguilar, in Judo.

During the delivery of the tricolor, Rodríguez stressed that the flag represents the country's identity and hope. “You know that it is a symbol of being Venezuelan, of Venezuelanism; we are good, honest, hardworking, joyful and supportive people, and that represents this tricolor that I am giving you today,” he said.

The vice-president said that young people will carry the flag to Mother Africa, which he described as a sacred territory. He also referred to the continent's past of slavery and reflected on freedom. “Carry with pride this flag, which also signifies the freedom of slaves, the freedom of men and women, the right to live in freedom,” said Rodríguez.

On behalf of the athletes, Santiago Camejo thanked the award. “We received this pavilion to take the tricolor to the top of the international podium at the Dakar 2026 Olympic Games,” said the beach volleyball athlete.

A total of 34 Venezuelan athletes will participate in the Dakar 2026 Youth Olympic Games, which will take place in Senegal from October 31 to November 13. The national delegation will seek to highlight the country's name at the international multi-sport event.
