National and regional authorities announced the addition of new megawatts to the National Interconnected System in the short term, as part of actions to address the electrical situation affecting the country.

The announcement came after a working meeting between the sectoral vice-president of Public Works and Services, Juan Ramírez Luces, the governor of Carabobo, Rafael Lacava, and regional authorities, in which plans to address the problem of energy generation and distribution were evaluated, national media reported.

Lacava reported that the objective of the meeting was “to be able to analyze all this situation that we have with the electrical issue and the great difficulties that have occurred in the national territory and, of course, in the case that concerns us in the state of Carabobo”.

The authorities described the meeting as positive and pointed out that the information received will make it possible to move forward in solving the faults affecting the population. The incorporation of new generation capacity will be aimed especially at the thermoelectric sector, with the objective of stabilizing service frequencies in the central-western axis of the country, one of the areas most affected by load fluctuations.

The technical teams of the Ministry of Electric Energy are working to carry out these actions. The authorities reiterated that the electricity situation is the great priority to be resolved and ratified their commitment to keep the population informed about the progress made. “We have never had such a complex situation in electrical matters as the one we are experiencing; but I am sure that in the short term we will get out of this because of the new additions that are being made and the enormous effort of the Ministry of Electric Energy,” said Lacava.
