In honor of the patriots who gave their lives on June 24, 1821, in the heroic feat of the Battle of Carabobo, this Saturday Venezuela commemorates Bolivarian Army Day, a celebration established by decree in 1958, following the fall of the Marcos Pérez Jiménez dictatorship.

Before that date, the Army was composed of all of Venezuela's military forces, and now, together with the Navy, Aviation and National Guard, it is an important component of the Bolivarian National Armed Forces (FANB), whose main obligation and task is to be responsible for ground operations and to protect the borders of Venezuelan territory from foreign threats.

The adoption of Bolivarian thinking in the armed forces seeks to contribute to the development of an anti-imperialist and profoundly social ideology.

This ideology is highlighted in the Bolivarian Army thanks to the Leader of the Bolivarian Revolution Hugo Chávez, after he emphasized the ideal of being free and not depending on the political doctrines of other countries.

The military institution responds to the interests of the people, their fight against injustices and the attempts at domination promoted by the great hegemonic centers against Venezuela.
