Bertucci: We must ensure that we are fully qualified to be candidates

The president of the Hope for Change Party, Javier Bertucci, requested that the candidates running for office must be aware of their eligibility to participate in the presidential elections.

“We ask, first of all, to clarify to the country that all of us who have been appointed as pre-candidates will be candidates only when our names pass through the National Electoral System (CNE) and we are admitted as candidates,” Bertucci said during a National Day of Dialogue to discuss the 2024 Electoral Schedule.

In this regard, he explained that so far it is not possible to call candidates those who have not reviewed if they are in a position to be so.

“No one can be a candidate because the one who offers a candidate option to the People is the governing body, which in this case is the National Electoral Council. So all pre-candidates must ensure that we are fully qualified to be candidates and offer the People candidates who can exercise this position from the CNE,” he emphasized.

He also requested that the communication campaign of all candidates be in a balanced manner, that an international observation be convened and “a type of mechanism to incorporate the Venezuelan vote abroad (...) we propose that the elections be between September 15 and October 6 based on the periods established by the LOPRE (Organic Law on Electoral Processes) and what the CNE would require to develop a smooth schedule”, he concluded.
