The Bank of Venezuela (BDV) has neutralized 19,322 attempts at fraud, successfully dismantling these cybercriminal groups, thanks to joint actions between the Public Ministry and different investigative bodies.

Through a press release published by the financial institution, the BDV explained that phishing is a form of cybercrime in which criminals, through text messages, email or social networks, create false links that provide their personal information when customers enter, allowing fraudsters to obtain bank details and commit fraud.

In this regard, the BDV reiterates to its customers the importance of protecting their identity, reminding them that it does not issue, under any circumstances, links that direct them to online banking or request sensitive information such as passwords, codes, card or account numbers.

The bank reaffirms that the only means by which it directly informs its customers about campaigns, credit products and updates to its different comprehensive solutions are push notifications from the BDVapp, the Bank's mobile application that currently has more than 9 million users.

Additionally, as part of the strategies implemented to accompany its clients to combat this type of scam, the BDV has paused its Instagram account. Thus, any link published from this social network is considered suspicious and must be reported.
